EMDR and trauma therapy for finding your way forward.

Hi, I'm Amy, and I'm glad you're here.

Finding the right therapist can feel like a lot of work—especially when you've already spent years trying to understand yourself, your relationships, or the things that have happened to you. You may know what you want to change without knowing how to get there. Or you may understand your experiences intellectually while still feeling stuck in the same emotional or physical patterns.

My work focuses on helping adults understand and heal from trauma, particularly complex trauma, PTSD, childhood trauma, sexual trauma, dissociation, and attachment wounds. I am an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist, and I draw from EMDR and other evidence-based approaches to trauma therapy, tailoring treatment to the person rather than expecting the person to fit a particular method.

I believe therapy should be a collaborative process. You deserve to understand why we are doing what we are doing and to have a voice in the direction of your treatment. Together, we can develop goals, make sense of the patterns that have developed in response to your experiences, and identify what needs to change. Sometimes that means processing traumatic memories. Sometimes it means learning to regulate your nervous system, developing healthier boundaries, understanding relationship patterns, or working with parts of yourself that have learned to protect you in ways that no longer serve you.

My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in the understanding that healing involves the whole person. Trauma can affect our thoughts, emotions, bodies, relationships, sense of identity, and ability to feel safe—even long after the original circumstances have ended. Therapy can help those different pieces begin to make sense together.

I work with adults throughout California through telehealth and offer in-person therapy in Sacramento. You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. We can start with where you are, develop an understanding of what brought you here, and figure out where you want to go next.

Trauma Therapy and Specialties

I specialize in trauma therapy for adults experiencing the lasting effects of complex trauma, PTSD, childhood trauma and emotional neglect, sexual abuse and sexual trauma, dissociation, attachment wounds, and trauma-related difficulties with relationships and self-worth.

My approach is individualized and collaborative. Depending on your experiences, needs, and goals, therapy may include EMDR, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, or parts work and ego integration. I believe you deserve to understand your own therapy—not simply be told what to do. We will work together to identify your goals, understand the process we are using, and regularly evaluate whether treatment is helping you move toward the changes you want to make.

Trauma affects more than the way we think about what happened. You may understand intellectually that something is in the past while your body continues to respond as though you are still in danger. You may know that you are safe and still feel unsafe, or understand why you react a certain way while feeling unable to change the reaction. Sometimes, parts of us remain connected to earlier experiences and continue responding as though those experiences are still happening.

Therapy can help create greater integration between what you understand, what you feel, and what your body experiences. My goal is not simply to help you understand what happened to you, but to help you develop a greater sense of safety, choice, connection, and self-understanding as you move forward.
