Paying for Therapy
Insurance or private pay—choose the option that works best for you.
I believe access to therapy involves more than finding the right therapist. It also means understanding what therapy will cost and what to expect from your insurance. I offer both insurance-based and private-pay therapy, and I’m happy to help you understand your options so you can make an informed decision about your care
Private Pay
Private-pay therapy offers greater flexibility and privacy in your care.
My fee is $180 for a 55-minute individual therapy session. Some clients choose private pay because they prefer not to involve their insurance in their mental health care, have a high deductible, or want the flexibility to pursue therapy based on their needs rather than their insurance plan’s coverage requirements. Private pay can also be an option when the concerns you want to address do not fit within what your insurance is willing to cover. If your insurance plan provides out-of-network benefits, you may be able to receive reimbursement for a portion of your sessions. I can provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance company, although reimbursement is determined by your individual plan and cannot be guaranteed.
Using Insurance
I am in-network with several insurance plans and can bill your insurance directly for covered services. Your specific costs will depend on your plan, including your deductible, copay, coinsurance, and other benefits. I recommend contacting your insurance company to verify your mental health benefits before beginning therapy. Please keep in mind that using insurance means your insurance company becomes involved in your care. Insurance companies generally require a mental health diagnosis and may request information about your treatment in order to determine medical necessity and coverage. If privacy or having greater control over your treatment is important to you, private pay may be worth considering.Whether you choose private pay or insurance, we can discuss your options during your consultation so you can make an informed decision about what works best for your needs and circumstances.
